Carteret County in eastern North Carolina... this includes the cities of... Cedar Island... Morehead City... Beaufort... southeastern Craven County in eastern North Carolina... Hyde County in eastern North Carolina... this includes the cities of... Swanquarter... Ocracoke... Engelhard... Pamlico County in eastern North Carolina... * until 800 PM EST * at 655 PM EST... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a line of severe showers capable of producing destructive winds in excess of 65 mph. These storms were located along a line extending from Alligator Lake to Whortonsville to 18 miles southwest of Pine Knoll Shores... or along a line extending from 19 miles north of Swanquarter to 14 miles northwest of Cedar Island to 21 miles southeast of Camp Lejeune main gate... and moving east at 70 mph. * These storms will be near... Piney Island... Swindell Fork... Swanquarter and North River by 705 PM EST... Fort Macon State Park... Hydeland... Otway and Open Grounds farm by 710 PM EST... Williston and straits by 715 PM EST... Strong southwest winds will continue tonight at 25 to 35 mph with gusts as high as 45 mph possible ahead of the cold front. Winds will slowly begin to shift to the west as the front moves across area. A Wind Advisory means that winds of 31 to 39 mph with higher gusts are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult... especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. |
