A Wind Advisory remains in effect until midnight EST tonight.
Windy southwest to west winds will continue for the rest of the evening across much of central North Carolina. Wind gusts as high as 40 to 45 mph with sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph can be expected. Wind gusts as high as 50 mph are still possible over the next few hours across the sandhills. These strong winds coupled with the saturated soil will likely topple a few trees and power poles... leading to some power outages. Winds will only gradually diminish by late this evening.
A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult... especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Also... take care to secure lightweight... outdoor objects that may be blown about by the wind.
